    Summer watch incoming...

I wanted to get something a bit fun for summer and this fit the bill nicely. I used to have the black dial version which I loved but the white with the grey strap appealed this time. I love the extra detail you can pick up in the white dial.

Hmm. Spotted on of those last night in Selfridges. Really got my attention. Even nicer in those pics than in the display case.

Darn, I was thinking I am done with any interest in any new watches. This could be a (partial) consolidation watch.

    Great pick up Cliff.

I love the look of these, stunning watches. But and it's a big
    BUT

I can't get my head round the fake screws on the bezel that clearly cannot be turned.?
Just like fake exhaust appearing on car.
    Why?

They aren't meant to move because they are the anchor for screws in the caseback that hold the "sandwich" together.

Better solution than having random alignment on the bezel like Hublot imo.

    Now that makes sense
    Thank You
But my Autism makes me need the solution visible i.e. The back on the front, if you understand
But thanks again for showing me the reason

Didn’t someone on the forum have an AP returned from service with the one screw head misaligned to all the others?

So they’re functional, but I’m guessing the slots in the heads on the front are decorative? They’re flush with the bezel and hexagonal, so they can’t turn.

I don’t know much about these and have never had the joy of holding one, so I know nothing.

Cracking mate - one thing, I heard a rumor AP changed the manufacturing so the dials are stamped instead of turned. Any truth in that?

    Great looking watch.

I have always previously dismissed the ROO as being too big.
But perhaps I should take another look!

    Lovely piece mate!

Still unsure why the discontinued it for the white with blue accents.

Also looks good on the white strap.

When the 15703 was discontinued, so was the dial. When they introduced the 15710 with the sapphire crystal on the back, they stopped using the rose-turned method and instead started to stamp the pattern on instead.
    A crying shame, IMO.

Still a cracking watch, but shame about the details. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for all the compliments. I've been wearing it solidly since I got it - which is rare.

I believe so. I don’t think I’ve handled the 15710 black to compare it to my old 15703 to really see if you can tell the difference. The white is a completely different look so tough to compare. I suspect it may make me a heathen but... I really don’t care... 

I would on a 15202, but not on this lump.

Yeah, no idea but the white and black must be a pretty limited run I think.

A celibate summer, not exactly a summer of fun in my book!

The dial on yours isn't stamped cliff although production has switched to that method.
Yours is a silvered dial and turned. The new pure white dial with blue is stamped so you're all good :)

    Are you sure?

I thought it was just the first gen black and F.C which were turned?

1st Gen black and F.C. dial, wet look and you can see the turn marks

White dial looks stamped (unless there was a transition)

The white with black accents was a general release and now discontinued it’s replacment which I believe is also being phased out is the boutique only white with blue accents.

Perhaps turning isn't the answer then pitbull.

I'm 100% confident that the tapisserie on black, white and coloured dials is much softer and rounded than that of the silver dial which is geometrically sharp as a pin.
Both have applications of paint and lacquer so I'm not sure that the difference can be exclusively pinned on paint but it's really noticeable when side by side. The new white looks nothing like it

Yeah, it is definitely very sharp C, not a visible drop in "quality" from my old black 15703 but hard to make a true comparison without the two side by side. It certainly doesn’t feel lacking and as per earlier answer, it isn’t a watch that is really about subtle intricacies, so not something I’d get too hung up on either way.

As I said earlier a stunning watch. A back dial version would complement the white nicely :)
