Lost the love for my BLRO so.....

Lost the love for my BLRO (and it was very similar to my Smurf anyway so I figured it kinda silly to have two WG Sports models anyway) so I flipped it for this.

It’s the Rose Gold and ‘Olive’ (or ‘snotburst’ as my mate calls it!) dial, Day Date 40 model 228235.

Absolute change of direction for me and my collection but while it’s undoubtedly the ‘dressiest’ watch I’ve ever owned it also feels surprisingly ‘sporty’ on the wrist and it’s not quite as ‘in your face’ as it’s YG siblings.

Dial and the bracelet really are works of art IMO....

Love the DD. Great choice although my first dial pick would be a silver stick dial. Enjoy.

Congrats. That is a stunning combo buying the wife the 34mm SS snotdial tomorrow.
Would be nice one day to be $$ enough to carry that off.

I reckon you could make that a daily wearer, more subtle than yellow gold, well done you!!

Very nice, I've always wondered how resistant the 'bezel' is to the odd knock?

BLRO, Smurf, Christ on a bike.
The gold Rolex looks fine, the abbreviations not so,

The gold Rolex looks fine, the abbreviations not so,
If I want to search for posts regarding a particular watch, for example my white gold GMT, words or phrases such as “white”, “gold” or “gmt” give varied and often irrelevant results.

Searching “BLRO” will produce only the results I wish to see, and while I know the appropriate Rolex model number for that particular watch I suspect many members don’t, in the same way that I’m not overly familiar with many other manufacturers model numbers but I do know and use/search common abbreviations and/or popular ‘nicknames’.

    I loved my Day Date.

    And then there was this:

I changed because of consistent issues with the change-over on the early DD40. In the end, swapped for this.

In all this, I only paid for one watch. Of the three, my favourite is the silver Day Date 40.
Can't afford one now. Looking at the pictures, the Daytona seems gorgeous. Sold it to a friend.
Of course they are 'dressy' but, like all Rolex, are really pretty tough. A DD40 and a SD43 would be a nice pair. But sadly, i'l probably not have another gold Rolex.

    Although you never know!

A lovely piece although to my eye the Roman numerals are too large. Everything else is fantastic. I hope you enjoy it.

Rose gold really suits the Day Date. Beautiful watch, especially like the bracelet.

As a thing to look at, I really do like the Day-Date. One of the very few watches, to me, that looks good in gold. Nice find, sir.

Never say never. All stunning, the WG Blue Daytona is one of my favourite watches of all time. At least you got to experience it for a while.

Lovely watch. I normally think the DD40 is a little bloated but this looks perfect.

Can I ask though, why is there a single baton at 4 and 9 on the dial inplace of numerals?

I think it's purely 'aesthetics' mate, and in my opinion they've got it 'bang on'.
